Advanced Micro Devices(AMD) is an American multinational company located in Santa Clara, California. It develops or manufactures computer processors and other business technologies and hardware for the consumer markets.
AMD’s main products include microprocessors, motherboard chipsets, embedded processors, FPGAs (field programmable gate arrays) for servers, workstations, PCs, and embedded system applications, network interface controllers, drivers, and Tv accessories.

AMD has formed nearly 53 years ago on May 1, 1969, by its founder Jerry Sanders along with seven of his colleagues from Fairchild Semiconductor. Its headquarters are located in Santa Clara, California. Its branches are present across the world. The key people of AMD are:

In 1969, AMD moved from its temporary location in Santa Clara to Sunnyvale in California. In 1969, in November the company manufactured its first product: the Am9300, which is a 4-bit MSI(medium scale integration) shift register and began selling in 1970.
In 1970 it also produced another product called Am2501 logic counter which became highly successful. Another product named Am2505 multiplier is the best selling product in1971. In 1971 AMD entered the RAM chip market and manufactured a 64-bit bipolar RAM and named it Am3101.
In that year company got a lot of profit nearly around $4.6 million. AMD became private in 1972. Later it got partnerships with many other companies like Intel and siemens. Even siemens and AMD together established another company called Advanced Micro Computers(AMC).
AMD manufactured numerous microprocessors and peripherals. In 1979, AMD entered the New York stock exchange. And in 1979 itself the production of new semiconductors started in Austin, Texas. In 1980 the company began supplying semiconductor products for telecommunications across the world and from then the company is still growing and developing rapidly.
In 2014 the company was divided into two parts: computing and graphics. And manufactured all the computer hardware and peripherals. Peripherals are the external devices connected to the computer to provide input or to take data from the system. Microprocessors are the processors which perform the tasks in microseconds and produce the output.
Embedded systems are the combination of hardware and software so the hardware required for the embedded systems is manufactured in the AMD examples are hardware for washing machines, microwave ovens, ACs, etc.
